I knew I could do this and be okay once I left the hospital because of what she taught me and shared with me.
I’m a first-time mom and went through labor three weeks ago. The staff was amazing, but Kate, on the night shift, postpartum side, was even more amazing in terms of my care and mental health. She asked me questions and showed me in a non-judgmental way how to do certain breastfeeding and hand expression care. She didn’t assume that I knew what I was doing, even when I thought I knew, but she showed me so kindly and in a way that made me feel comfortable and okay with not knowing. Her knowledge and cultural approach in nursing are why I feel like I’m getting the best care when coming to the hospital with staff like this. She made a huge difference in my recovery as a new mom. I knew I could do this and be okay once I left the hospital because of what she taught me and shared with me. I felt more prepared because I was very scared to take care of my baby and myself. She made a huge difference to my health and mental health. So, Quyana, Nurse Kate on Night shift!
