These situations prompted Kate to implement a PDSA protocol on learning situations on “Best Practices on 4 East”.
In the short time, Katie has been the unit director of 4 East, she has excelled. Last year when COVID occurred, she did a great job in her “white paper” on Covid. This was excellent educational research for the staff to be familiar with. On 4 East we had 2 situations that could have had bad outcomes. These situations prompted Kate to implement a PDSA protocol on learning situations on “Best Practices on 4 East”. Also during Covid, Katie kept the staff aware of what was happening in the hospital, she made sure we had our supplies. She always reminded us for our safety to use our face masks and shields. Katie always has a positive attitude and is hardworking. She always sees the best in her employees. Whenever there are problems or mistakes that occur on our unit, Katie never puts blame on the staff, instead works on what we can do better. Kate is non-judgmental, caring, and has excellent leadership skills. Katie always ensures that her leadership team recognizes staff members for their hard work. Katie is dedicated to 4 –East!
