Katharine has an incredible heart for patients, not only under her care but also when they're under the care of others. I had a patient who was cleared for discharge, but unfortunately, the coat she was wearing prior to her arrival was no longer with her, and she was possibly left behind in the field. We were concerned for her because she is houseless and in a vulnerable state, being without a coat in the winter. We looked into all our options and were unable to locate a donated coat for her to take with her. Katharine, anonymously, gave the patient her own jacket and vest to provide a sense of safety to our patient. It was the kindest and most generous thing, and it really demonstrated to me how nurses can have a deeper impact on the community. I am so grateful to have Katharine as a teammate and to work alongside such a selfless caregiver. She makes me want to be a better nurse.
