Katie Griffin was consistently professional, caring, polite and compassionate. She was honest and dependable. When she didn't know the answer to our questions, she admitted it and simply stated, "That is a great question. I will go find out the answer and let you know. Thank you for letting me learn something new today." Every time this occurred, she followed through. We were never left wondering if Katie was going to follow through or when she might return to my mother's room. She demonstrated true professionalism, placing my mother, her patient, at the center of each encounter.
We observed Katie while she worked, and it was obvious that she was very busy. The stress she must feel completing her work while prioritizing her patients' needs was never carried over into the one-on-one care she provided. During each encounter, she was present, engaged and in the moment. You have an excellent nurse on your staff. My hope for Katie is that she never loses the internal motivator that drives her to be such an outstanding nurse. It is a true gift.
