Katherine personally packed up and escorted a special needs adult patient, their service dog, and their mother to the car for discharge. Upon returning to the unit, Katherine discovered the mother had left her meal that she had just purchased. Katherine called the mom to see if she could turn the car around and meet in valet to get her hot meal. But Mom decided not to. Mom called back later, distressed over the missed meal and also felt like the service dog's food bowls were left. Katherine could not find the dog bowls and because the special needs patient loves all things Emory, Katherine ordered Emory dog bowls through the Emory Bookstore and picked them up on her lunch break. She surprised Mom and patient with Emory dog bowls when they came back for a follow-up clinic visit.
