If Kat were not my nurse, I would not have felt confident or comfortable going into the OR to have my baby. Her ability to maintain a sense of calm, provide clear explanations, and offer unwavering support was truly remarkable.
I am writing to nominate Katherine for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication and outstanding care as a labor and delivery nurse. Her unwavering commitment to her patients and their families truly sets her apart as an exemplary healthcare professional. Kat went above and beyond in providing compassionate and competent care for me during the hardest part of my labor. I was in labor for over 24 hours, scared, in pain, and anxious. I underwent an unplanned induction secondary to preeclampsia and was terrified of what could happen during labor. I was under many medications and I had to trust my nurse to act in my best interest. Katherine's presence and confidence reassured me that I was in control and that I was going to be okay. I felt like she never left my side and was advocating for me the whole time. Her expertise and professionalism were evident when assessing my pain and epidural. She made sure anesthesia was attentive to managing my pain. She suggested my epidural was no longer working, and she was right. I would not have had pain relief if Kat had not advocated for me. I ultimately ended up having a c-section, and Katherine made me feel safe and heard. She assured me that even though I was scared, she was not scared and was going to be my voice in the OR. Kat stayed past her shift to be with me in the OR and deliver my first baby to ensure I felt comfortable. If Kat were not my nurse, I would not have felt confident or comfortable going into the OR to have my baby. Her ability to maintain a sense of calm, provide clear explanations, and offer unwavering support was truly remarkable. Not only did she make me feel safe during labor, but she even followed up with me the next day, postpartum, to ensure I was okay.

Her commitment to her patients is truly a work of heart. She embodies the qualities of a true healthcare hero, and her actions undoubtedly made a significant difference in my labor story. It is clear that Katherine not only meets but also exceeds the criteria for the DAISY Award. Her passion for nursing and her genuine concern for her patients' well-being make her an outstanding candidate for this prestigious recognition. I hope that you will consider her for this honor. Her exemplary care and dedication to her patients make her a true role model for all healthcare professionals.

Note: This is Katherine's 2nd DAISY Award!
