My family has known Mrs. Kate for a while. I have Sickle Cell Disease and I am in and out of the hospital. I am a senior in college and plan to graduate soon. Mrs. Kate is so caring and thoughtful every time that I am in the hospital. She comes and visits and spends time with me and she makes me feel that I am not just a patient, but a person whom she really cares about. She always makes sure that I am taking my medicine and she makes sure that I get enough rest for school. Whenever I get into town I never have to wait to get an appointment with Dr. D. I feel as though I am the most blessed patient in the clinic. Everyone is so special to me at Dayton Children's. When I have a problem I know that I can always count on Mrs. Kate and the entire Hematology Clinic to help me. I will be turning 22 soon and I have tears in my eyes knowing that I will have to leave Dayton Children's, Mrs. Kate, and the Hematology Clinic. I wanted to become a doctor all of my life but I had a tough time with my disease and being in and out of the hospital. I always wanted to work with children so I changed my major from Biology to Speech Therapy. I would like to give back and help others the way Mrs. Kate and other Dayton Children's employees helped me. I just pray one day I can help children the way they helped me. Mrs. Kate always told me, "S, you can do it and I did it!" I will be graduating from college and it's all because of God, Mrs. Kate, and Dayton Children's. I love Mrs. Kate and l really appreciate her so much. Thank you!
