I am nominating Katy for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award for many reasons. Katy has not only been the most understanding and supportive Assistant Clinical Leader (ACL) for many years, but she also became an outstanding nurse manager for 2 East. 2 East is a trauma surgical floor that cares for patients who have endured some of the most challenging times in their lives. While this work is never easy, it is always rewarding, and having Katy by our side makes a significant difference. Katy is deeply committed to supporting and developing our 2 East nursing staff. She consistently has our backs, ensures our safety, and strives to assemble the best possible team. Katy is always encouraging us to excel in our nursing careers.

Katy stepped into the manager role just a few months ago during a particularly challenging time, including the cyber-attack. Despite these difficulties, she consistently stayed late, remained readily available via phone or email, and kept us informed with timely updates. Even in her current managerial role, Katy continues to demonstrate unwavering compassion towards our patients and staff. She is always dedicated to finding solutions to any problems we encounter. Katy fosters an environment where staff feel comfortable voicing any concerns without fear of judgement. She goes above and beyond for her team, making each and every one of us feel valued and appreciated in our nursing community.
