Kathy was engaged in our child’s health, and by the end of our stay, she really felt like family.
My 5-year-old son was admitted for a 24-hour EEG; this was our first inpatient hospital visit, along with having a fresh diagnosis. This visit was not an easy visit for us, but Kathy helped make this stay one to remember – in the best way possible. Her care was above and beyond, not only for my son but for me as well. Kathy helped step in and provide support for our son when I felt too drained to. My son had to be connected to wires his entire stay, and she helped keep him busy and keep his frustration levels down. She would periodically come and tell a joke or play very quickly. Kathy was engaged in our child’s health, and by the end of our stay, she really felt like family. I could tell Kathy is passionate about her career and cares for her patients. All of the Rush staff was amazing, but Kathy took the time to build a one-on-one relationship and connect with us. By the end of our 24 hours my son was coloring pictures for her and asking to go play with her. I could never thank her enough for helping my son and me forget that we were in a hospital. All of the Rush staff was amazing, but Kathy truly is one of a kind, and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. I hope to see her for any future visits, and I have peace of mind that should we need to repeat any of these tests that I’ll be going to a friendly face. Good work, Kathy; thank you for everything you’ve done for us!
