I was hospitalized for emergency surgery and through continuous problems had to spend the majority of the holidays in the hospital. Many nurses were really special and helpful but Katie took to me as a person by name she made me feel I was someone important to her. She would come in and visit with me even when she wasn't assigned to my room. She greeted me where she was. When she would see me and come see how my progress was. She knew how upset I was missing Halloween, Thanksgiving and then Christmas that she took her time and helped decorate my room for me so when I woke up from surgery it was awesome.

Katie went above and beyond in many ways from personal, helping me with my medications and encouraging me in a positive way that I could and would move on. I think I was very blessed when she came in my room and just set with me to help me feel not so alone. I think Winchester Medical was great but mostly due to the outstanding nursing staff that cares the way Katie did for me on the floor. I am sure they have done the same for many others. I would love to see Katie recognized for being a true caring nurse!
