Katrin has developed such a strong team, and this is noticeable throughout the entire organization. She is always actively working with Security to figure out best practices to keep both her staff and our patients safe.
Katrin truly meets the definition of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She is the most caring, hardworking, team player, but is also an amazing leader. When it comes to the acronym for L.E.A.D.E.R., she hits each one right on the spot.

L – Leads. Katrin always leads by example. When she is asked to have her staff implement something, she not only teaches but also follows the same rules. She is an asset to this entire hospital.

E – Encourages. I have seen Katrin not only do whatever she can for her staff, but she also has delicious treats on her door for a pick me up, and if the department is short-staffed, no matter what shift or what role, she steps up to help her team and never leaves them to struggle on their own.

A – Attentive. Katrin’s team leads by example for all the other units of the hospital. She and her staff are attentive and kind, and they deal with some of our most difficult patients while still staying positive.

D – Details. Katrin’s staff, from Arrhythmia Techs to CNAs to Charge Nurses, are all incredible. I know if I ever have questions about policies, I can go to them for help.

E – Engages. Katrin’s team is the kindest to our housekeeping staff and are always willing to step up. Katrin has developed such a strong team, and this is noticeable throughout the entire organization. She is always actively working with Security to figure out best practices to keep both her staff and our patients safe.

R – Resilient. This is the definition of Katrin. Katrin is an incredible director and a strong, confident leader. From COVID to staffing, she always faces challenges head-on.

If there is anyone in this entire organization that deserves this award, it is Katrin. I believe she is the strongest Nurse Leader I have ever met, and I am lucky to have learned from her. She is everything that is needed from a department director, and I have never seen her leave her team in a time of need. The ICU/Telemetry staff are all so amazing because of her, and OMC is lucky to have her.

Note: This is Katrin's 2nd DAISY Award!
