I feel that between her knowledge, demeanor, and attitude she was helpful in easing my wife and I through that second night and setting us on pace to be more at ease in taking care of our baby moving forward.
The second night after my wife gave birth, we were introduced to Katrina as our nurse for the night. Katrina had met our child the night before when she was under the warming lamp and was telling us the story of how she remembered her and how cute she thought our child was which made us smile. She had a positive attitude and seemed eager to assist with any needs we may have had. In the middle of the night, my wife and I were worried that our child was not receiving sufficient milk from breastfeeding, which was worsened by an article I read online. Katrina came in and was incredibly knowledgeable, dispelling these concerns and taking the extra time to show us some tricks and methods to help our child feed better. These tips she provided went on to be incredibly helpful for the early days of breastfeeding. While assisting us, she also shared some other tips and knowledge on how to take better care of our child. Finally, after her check later that night/early morning, she noticed how tired we were and offered to take our child to the nurse-watching area so we could get some sleep. I feel that between her knowledge, demeanor, and attitude she was helpful in easing my wife and I through that second night and setting us on pace to be more at ease in taking care of our baby moving forward. To this day, we still use the tips and knowledge she shared. I feel her exemplary caregiving was wonderful, and I wanted to thank her by recommending her for this award.
