Katrina encompasses all of the qualities of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence as a bedside nurse. She is our sunshine on C7. Always displaying a positive and cheerful attitude, she empowers me and other co-workers to be positive, confident, and just happy when working! Her charismatic energy is contagious, and everyone she encounters leaves her side with an upbeat attitude and a smile.
Katrina offers constant encouragement to every single person around. She frequently compliments her co-workers with words such as, "You're sweet! Thanks for the great talk." Or "I love you, you are just great!" If all of that isn't enough she is a great team player for C7, always ready to lend a hand even though she may be busy herself. No matter what tasks, she will do it with a smile and never ending optimism and positive attitude. With the same manner as towards her co-workers, Katrina is even more compassionate towards her patients and families. We frequently have families ask specifically for her by name to be their nurse again. And she is always, without fail, recognized by families she cares for during HUC/follow up calls.
Katrina is consistently a strong advocate for her patients and families, always concerned with their wellbeing and safety. If something is not right she acts on it right away, notifying the right medical or other disciplinary team of her concerns. For example, Katrina was faced with a difficult situation where there was tension between a mother and father. Based on what she observed, using her excellent nursing judgment, she was able to quickly recognize possible abuse and an unsafe environment for the mother and patient. She immediately called the social worker, and notified the medical team about the situation.
Katrina is an awesome nurse, and we are so fortunate to have her as part of our team. Katrina has a true zest for life and a real compassion for her friends, co-workers, patients and their families. Katrina is an example of an outstanding nurse, and we are so proud to be in the nursing profession because of her!
