While Katy deserves the DAISY Award for many reasons the one that stands out beyond all stories is of the assistance she gave to a homeless man who had been shot. Katy arranged for the patient to stay in a local Super 8 for 10 days while the patient had appointments to keep at the wound clinic. Katy assited with transporation to and from the wound clinic. Once wound clinic was no longer neccessary for patient, Katy proceeded to contact patient's family back in Kansas and by being a mediator between patient and family, he was able to take a bus back to Kansas where his family would look after him.
