We could never have gotten through the birth of our daughter, nor the hours afterward, if it wasn’t for Kay. She was exemplary at her job.
When pregnant, I developed HELLP syndrome (severe preeclampsia), and due to the HELLP syndrome, my daughter had stopped growing. During my stay at AMH I was rushed down to the labour ward as my daughter’s heart had dropped dramatically. When taken down to the labour ward, Kay met me. Kay was absolutely amazing and was incredibly calming for myself and also my partner. I was incredibly grateful for all that Kay did for me. I was desperate to have a natural birth and I asked Kay if it was possible and she said to me exactly how it was and that it was detrimental to my life and my daughter’s life that I had a C-section so they could get my daughter out safely.

From the minute we were on the labour ward Kay was by our side to answer any questions, calm us down and make sure despite our birth being scary, with a lot going on, we never felt any of the stress or pressure. My partner was incredibly nervous of course due to the fact my life and my daughter’s life was on the line and Kay calmed him down so much and made sure he knew exactly what was going on.

She is a million percent in the best job for her. She read our situation and us as people and understood how to deal with us and the situation straight away off the bat. She sat with me and helped me hand express once my daughter was born, showed me how to do it properly, and even hugged me when I got upset about my daughter being born at a very small 3lb and 3oz (below 0.4th centile) and having to be in the neonatal. Kay was honestly extraordinary and definitely went beyond her pay and her job role itself. We could never have gotten through the birth of our daughter, nor the hours afterward, if it wasn’t for Kay. She was exemplary at her job.

She was utterly amazing. My daughter is now 15 months old, but my partner and I will forever remember Kay. We’ll both always hold her incredibly close to our hearts
