I'm writing to nominate Kayla for the DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care she provided during the labor and delivery of our third child. Kayla's dedication, knowledge, and compassionate demeanor made a significant difference in our experience. During labor, there was a moment when our baby's heart rate began to drop. Kayla immediately noticed this change on the monitor and calmly advised me to lie on my other side to help improve the baby's heart rate. Even though the contractions had their hold on me and I refused to move twice, the third time she insisted. Her quick thinking and expertise were evident, and within moments, the baby's heart rate stabilized. Her calm yet authoritative manner reassured me that we were in capable hands.

Kayla also went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. I had a specific request for a stepping stool to help me exercise and speed up the labor process. Despite it not being a common item on the maternity ward, Kayla took it upon herself to find one. She went on a hunt, checking various departments, and finally returned with the stool, making a huge difference in my labor process. Kayla's calm personality was a soothing presence throughout the process. She consistently checked on me, explained each step, and made sure I felt supported and informed. Her attentiveness and kindness created a positive and reassuring environment, which was invaluable during such an intense and emotional time. Kayla’s care did not end after baby’s delivery, she was very active in my postpartum care while at the hospital. In my past two experiences, my husband’s help was all I received during my post-delivery stay. This time around, she was with me every step of the way until the end of her shift. Kayla's exceptional care and dedication exemplify the qualities of a DAISY Award Honoree. She truly made a meaningful difference in our experience, and we are deeply grateful for her support and expertise.
