When I recently brought my mother in to live with us due to her increasing need for assistance and companionship, too; I knew the time would come to bring her to the emergency room in the future. Surprisingly it came just 6 months later. From our arrival to our departure, all employees went out of their way to treat her with compassion and professionalism. Her personal nurse, Kayla made the visit extraordinary.
Kayla's extra efforts from leaning down, kneeling, informing her of what was presently offering to what was coming next, all made that special difference. Kayla is truly a role model for how nursing should be. I've never encountered a nurse before who really took such time and kindness with her patients. You hear that you should treat others the way you would want to be treated. She topped this by treating her the way she would want her own mother to be treated.
Kayla even made her feel comfortable when exposing herself momentarily while changing clothes to a gown. As a breast cancer survivor, she is very self-conscious of her disfigurement. Kayla made her feel supported and applauded her for beating cancer. Thank you for making something that could have been a terrible memory into an experience that was as pleasant as possible. She makes Palmetto Health stronger.
