I felt truly listened to, taken care of, and cared for under her watch. Thank you, Kaylene. When I was so sick, she offered words of support.
My story involved two different visits to the hospital in five days. I first entered the ER with extreme stomach pain. After being admitted to the hospital, Kaylene was one of my excellent nurses. I had a terrible night. My husband had had no sleep for more than 30 hours and had to go home to get some rest. Kaylene stayed with me through the night. She was like my mom-nurse.
I was released, but two days later, the extreme pain returned. Again, I went through the ER and landed back in the Med Surg unit. I prayed that Kaylene would be my nurse again. She provided so much comfort and concern the first time I was there. And there she was. Even though she wasn't even assigned to me at first, she remembered I had been there before and eventually was assigned to me again. Or maybe she was in a leader role, I can't remember. All I know is that I felt so much gratitude for having her help me again. I felt truly listened to, taken care of, and cared for under her watch. Thank you, Kaylene. When I was so sick, she offered words of support. I felt listened to. I know my body well. She didn't just follow the text book, she was really hearing what I was saying and looking for the best solution to help me be as comfortable as possible. I could rest easier knowing that she was on the floor. I was miserable, irritable, and in so much pain. As a patient I can be difficult because of my allergies and my negative reactions to certain medicines. Kaylene understood and truly looked for all the different options possible to help me feel comfortable. I feel so grateful she was my nurse.
I had many fantastic nurses and aides during my recent two stays at AF Hospital. However, Kaylene stuck out as one of the best nurses I've ever had in my life. I've had several major surgeries and have literally spent weeks, if not months in various hospitals in Utah and Arizona. Kaylene was like my mom - a friend and a nurse who had my best interest in mind. I am so appreciative of all she did for me while I was there.
