Dr. Bruce is a great mentor who makes herself available to her students to help us grow as professionals. She has had several publications that show how creative she is as a teacher, especially in the area of motivational interviewing. Her published works and the way she interacts with us exemplifies compassion and service at its best. She is a wonderful FNP Program Director and teacher.

Dr. Bruce is the consummate professional who can be described as a servant leader who works collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty and students in developing nursing professionals for the future. Her critical thinking ability is evident in situations ranging from patient care management to addressing complex student issues. She directs the largest APRN track at TTUHSC and was key in establishing the BSN to DNP program for FNPs. Not only does she direct the program, but teaches advanced pharmacology which students find as one of the most challenging courses in the program, and continues her practice as an FNP. Additionally, she models professionalism through her service with the TNP foundation and has served on a task force with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) to develop NP competencies. Dr. Bruce provides good teaching for her students and never hesitates to help them on a one on one basis. She does not hesitate to be available to her students in the evening or a weekend to meet with students to help ease their stress and anxiety. Dr. Bruce shows ongoing compassion and concern for her students by making a connection with them. Compassion for students, families, patients, and co-workers is what nursing is about.
