Kelly is a true example of a nurse I aspire to be like. She provides her patients and their families with the highest quality and most compassionate care in what is most likely the scariest and hardest time of their lives. She is kind and loving to each one of her patients on a consistent basis.
Kelly works with nursing leadership as part of the fellowship program and is often assigned the role of resource nurse on the unit on nights. She is a strong nurse and is able to share her clinical skills and knowledge with new nurses and relate to them in such a way that everyone feels comfortable asking her for help. She is the type of nurse whether she is the resource or not, that you feel comfortable calling and asking for advice, or with a simple question. You do not feel judged or made to feel stupid with any question you ask her or any task you ask her to help you complete. She is a true team player and I consider myself lucky every shift I am able to work with Kelly. She is a true example of a DAISY Nurse, consistently displaying compassionate and empathetic care to all her patients. She is always willing to help a coworker and she does so with a smile. The PICU is very lucky to have such a wonderful nurse.
