The same warmth and professionalism continued with all the others I had contact with, including my anesthesiologist and recovery nurse, Kelly, as she went over post-surgery instructions with me.
Surgery is not generally thought to be a good experience, but my recent operation certainly was one. From the clear options presented by my surgeon to the conversations with the pre-op nurses and the extraordinary team at the hospital, I felt confident in my decision to go ahead. Right off the bat, Marcy projected warmth and reassurance when she greeted me in the waiting room. Every step along the way was well thought through as she described what would happen, answered questions, and comfortably chatted, all the while making sure I was physically comfortable as she tended to the pre-op steps. And it didn't end with Marcy; the same warmth and professionalism continued with all the others I had contact with, including my anesthesiologist and recovery nurse, Kelly, as she went over post-surgery instructions with me. I had a strong sense of a competent team that liked each other and worked well together for the well-being of their patients. I think that the fact that I'm healing so quickly is partly due to that. Each day, a friend and I share three things for which we're grateful. After I came home, my gratitudes were all about my surgery experience - thank you.
