Kelly Harmon, BSN, RN was nominated for the DAISY Award by a former patient’s daughter. In the nomination she wrote,
I cannot say enough about Kelly, RN, BSN, ED Dept. She was on duty the night my mother was seen in the ED (admitted to Neuro) and took care her. She literally treated my mother as if she was part of her family. It was comforting to watch her in action as she cared for my mother and as she cared, it calmed our fears. My mother has advanced Alzheimer’s disease.
Kelly is extremely gifted in her approach to patient care. She was able to get my mother to cooperate with her as she started an IV, drew labs, and cath her. It is true that my mother was smiling when she was finished. Kelly is a team player, provided quality and exceptional care to my mother that spilled over to our family. She is dedicated to her patient, cares deeply, and is responsible and proactive in meeting the needs of her patients. Even my father was using her name as he told additional family members about the exceptional care my mother received. My mother would say exactly the same thing and more about Kelly if she were able. She is one of the most outstanding young health care professionals employed by St. Luke’s on the Plaza and we nominate Kelly for the DAISY Award.
