Kelly was taking care of a patient who was experiencing a spinal headache after an epidural. Kelly was very patient with her and listened to her concerns about having a blood patch done.
Kelly contacted multiple service lines (OB & Anesthesia) as the patient had many questions regarding the procedure. Kelly advocated for providers to speak with the patient again as the patient continued to have questions. The patient made the decision to have the blood patch done but then began to feel anxiety regarding the procedure. The patient requested for pastoral care to come and pray with her prior to the procedure, however pastoral care was unavailable. Kelly offered to pray with her, and the patient desired for Kelly to pray with her. Kelly spent time praying with the patient and her family as she prepared for her procedure. The patient felt better afterward and was transferred to L&D for her procedure to be completed. Kelly consistently goes above and beyond to meet our patient's emotional and spiritual needs. Kelly showed collaboration in this situation as she collaborated with different service lines to meet the needs of the patient. Kelly provided excellent care to the patient as she listened to the patient and her family's concerns. She is consistently compassionate with her patients. She is known by her peers for having a positive attitude and working with her teammates sacrificially to help them. Kelly is a servant-hearted leader and we are grateful to work alongside her!
