Kelsey has always modeled what positive nursing looks like regardless of position or title. She has always cared for patients and caregivers, advocated for and educated patients, and encouraged all her teammates and direct reports to do the right thing for the patient.
Kelsey has a natural talent for caring for people, as evidenced by her career path in nursing. She has taken those empathetic servanthood principles to leadership and has modeled extraordinary behavior by helping teams out when applicable, encouraging teammates when needed, being highly accessible to her teams, and living out the Shannon values daily.
Kelsey leads multiple care teams and care areas both clinical and non-clinical. Her ability to communicate effectively and active listening strengthens the trust of her team. As the first OCN in the Cancer Center, she models professional development through leadership by example. She communicates across all care areas and across various leadership and provider levels to secure success and mutual respect. All these traits have led to an environment of trust in a dynamic care area.
Kelsey has always demonstrated flexible learning and the ability to actively listen, which has allowed her to effectively motivate and expand the bandwidth of work through appropriate delegation. By reinforcing the Shannon values and modeling them, she has been able to create an environment that keeps high performers engaged and enthused while teaching and mentoring all team members to execute the vision and mission in every touchpoint for positive patient outcomes.

She has always cared for patients and caregivers, advocated for and educated patients, and encouraged all her teammates and direct reports to do the right thing for the patient. She is respected by her peers. Kelsey has also worked to develop trust in the nursing profession and the organization by attending and participating in multiple community events, which has created long-standing community relationships.
Kelsey embodies every trait we all would want in our own personal nurse and what we would want for our nursing leaders.
Kelsey has performed exceptionally as a nurse leader in an agile and complex care area. Her ability to lead multiple roles on her team for mission success was never more evident than in the most recent transition to the new Cancer Center and the conversion of the Clinic practice to become a hospital-based outpatient department. She has held teammates to high standards and appropriate accountability which has earned trust in the teams of her willingness to put the mission of delivering exceptional healthcare first. She is humble and eager to learn at all times in her leadership journey. She is highly approachable, receptive to feedback, and driven to execute objectives at a high-performing level. I am honored to be able to serve alongside Kelsey and would gladly serve under her leadership.
