Kelsi went above and beyond to do a most wonderful thing for one of our patients. Our patient had given birth to a premature baby (23 weeks) and sustained numerous complications requiring hospitalization and eventually was transferred to our unit for rehab before going home. Her baby remained at another hospital in the NICU. Kelsi was caring for our patient when she realized it was the patient's birthday. Kelsi made several phone calls to the nurse at the other hospital who was caring for the patient's baby to see if there was a way to bring the baby to visit his mother on our unit. Kelsi spent a lot of time coordinating with the baby's nurse and the NICU Transport Team and succeeded in bringing the baby over to visit his mom. This was an overwhelming accomplishment for Kelsi because she was a new graduate nurse on our unit at that time. Kelsi went above and beyond to make a special day for our patient that will always be remembered. She also documented the visit with photographs that she presented to the patient. We are very proud of her and the level of compassion she showed for our patient.
