She takes a special interest in our most complex, most vulnerable patients and ensures they have comprehensive discharge planning that addresses their needs. Patients know she cares about them.
I would like to nominate Kenlee for the DAISY Award. There are so many reasons that this nurse deserves this award. For one thing, she is consistently recognized by other departments for being an incredibly giving and hard-working teammate. She was recently recognized by the hospitalists of St. Mary's, who said: "... at our Faculty meeting today, we recognized you for your involvement, efforts, impact, and incredible hard work on the CM team. We greatly appreciate your dedication, and it has shown results!" She is frequently shouted out by nursing, palliative care, our diabetic educator, and many other care providers who work with her. She is also much appreciated by the house supervisors when she serves as emergency back-up coverage for their role, holding the house supervisor phone while also accomplishing her other duties as Care Coordination Manager. In addition, she gets recognized by patients for her passionate compassion. She takes a special interest in our most complex, most vulnerable patients and ensures they have comprehensive discharge planning that addresses their needs. Patients know she cares about them.

One of our leaders shared this from patient rounding: a patient "mentioned he had a rough couple of days, but with rounding and service recovery, his stay is much better. He and his wife mentioned that one of the case managers is really good at trying to help with their issues. They could not think of the name until they turned and looked at the communication board in the room and saw your name. They both said at the same time 'Kenlee'! They both feel that you have been extremely helpful and listen to their needs."

On top of that, she is beloved by her team, who regularly share that working with Kenlee is a main reason why they love to work in Care Coordination. Said one employee on an anonymous survey: "My leader is Kenlee. She is an excellent CC (Care Coordinator). Hard-working, quick-thinking, very knowledgeable & always ready to share/help." There have been many times when Care Coordination staff have spontaneously shared with me how much Kenlee has made them feel supported, valued and encouraged.

Finally, as her leader, I have long appreciated Kenlee's many incredible qualities and feel so grateful to have her leadership in Care Coordination. I nominated Kenlee for a Shenson Award back in 2019, and when she won I was able to honor her with a speech detailing her many contributions even then. Someone like Kenlee only sees an accolade like that as encouragement to keep giving, to keep going, to do even more to help others and to use her talents to lift up everyone around her. I nominate her for the DAISY Award now to highlight her unwavering dedication to patient care, her uncompromising support of her team and her colleagues, and her indelible mark on this Care Coordination department and on these hospitals.
