We have a patient who has been on ECMO for almost 2 months. She has had a very difficult road to recovery and several unexpected surgeries over the last two months. Kerri has cared for this patient a lot and developed an inspiring relationship with her. The patient was having a hard time mentally and emotionally. Kerri noticed the patient’s birthday was coming up. She reached out to the staff, looking to see if anyone would be willing to send a few dollars, and she would plan a birthday party for the patient! Kerri came in on her day off to start blowing up balloons and getting things ready on the patient’s birthday. The staff decorated the patient’s room, all went to sing, and gave her presents! She even had a disco ball and they had a dance session! The pure joy and happiness could be seen in the patient’s face. Kerri has the biggest heart and truly goes above and beyond for our patients!
