People like Kevin make these hospital stays bearable. He's a gem, and we appreciate him so much.
We've been at Brenner's so much in the last month that we've made friends. Let me tell you about Kevin. He was born to be an RN. There's no doubt in my mind that this is his life calling. He is the most patient, encouraging, funny, personable fella. M was nicknamed "Sweet Girl" by him three visits ago. He spent a good bit of time in our room yesterday chatting with W about all the things they both love like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Legos, and all things nerdy.

We talked about our families and showed pictures of our families. We know his daughter has a birthday this weekend and is turning 4. We talked about his mama, who taught her whole career and was supposed to retire five years ago. He knows all about W's graduation on Friday. When his shift is over each night, he tells the fam he's leaving, and he's praying for us. He has become an honorary member of the Fam. Yesterday, we found out it is Nurses Appreciation Week, so when we busted out for our downstairs adventure, we had to get Kevin something to show our appreciation.

We found him a cool Lego Mandalorian flashlight keychain and some Butter Rum Lifesavers since he's been a lifesaver to Sweet Girl, us, and M, and I made him a card with a note on the back. When he came by last night to tell us he was leaving and that he wasn't working today, we gave him the gift. He was fighting tears. He hugged M and said he wanted to come to see her outside of this place and that maybe he could come to watch her play volleyball sometimes. People like Kevin make these hospital stays bearable. He's a gem, and we appreciate him so much.
