We've all been there; right on that moment when everything that we do feels like routine already that we just have to relive every shift and make it through the next 12 hours. The patients' faces, the smell of their room, the sound of infusion pumps and the patterns of medication timing. Everything can make us feel almost the same everyday - equally tiring and draining.
Perhaps it felt almost the same for Mr. Kevin David of Pain Management as well. It even made him feel worse to be placed on a morning shift that day for certain reasons that was not known to him at all. But when the DAISY committee visited him, it made all sense finally. Out of a boring routine schedule, one person took notice of his diligence and put into heart the effort of nominating him for the DAISY award. Mr. David was awarded the same and with a little too emotional facial expression listened to patient's daughter recount his extraordinary care.
"Our mother was admitted at St. Luke's Medical Center, Global City due to excessive pain in the lumbar area. One unit of the hospital which was fully mobilized to address the reason for our mother's hospitalization was the Pain Management Department. Everyone (all doctors and nurses) were very helpful in assisting our mother to ease the pain she was experiencing. One specific individual who really caught our attention was Mr. Kevin David. Our mom has been dealing with Mr. Kevin David during her hospitalization. From the time our mother started dealing with him, until now, he has been consistently manifesting an excellent professional demeanor, characterized by a foremost necessary attitude a medical practitioner should inherently possess, genuine empathy and care and utmost compassion for patients/customers. Apart from the aforementioned characteristic, Mr. David manifests a very proactive attitude, he is also very vigilant towards his patient's needs. Such vigilance enables him to anticipate the upcoming needs of his patients. Mr. David shows earnest compassion and extraordinary care for our mother. He does not stop until our Mom is eased of the excruciating pain she experiences at certain times. Mr. Kevin David has a very pleasant disposition. He manifests a very educated character when he speaks to his patients. He knows how to choose his words and statements when communicating with customers. He is able to make a patient realize that she is indeed in good hands at St. Luke's Medical Center, Global City. Mr. David is able to let the patient feel good and at ease. He is able to explain and articulate to the patient the nature of pain treatment being administered and what to expect given the current treatment methods. Hence, allowing the patient to understand how she is being treated and how healing is administered.
Kevin treats his customers with utmost respect and regard. Mr. David deals with his customers in a very professional manner. A very noteworthy situation which certainly showed his penchant and inclination for extraordinary care was when he accompanied our mom and patiently helped her deal with her lumbar pain while undergoing MRI shots of various positions. He never left our mom's side, and was consistently helping her ease the pain she was experiencing in the absence of the pain relievers. His presence was soothing enough and such gesture helped our mom manage the pain she was experiencing. Mr. David possesses an approachable attitude to customers/patients. He willingly answers questions pertaining to the method of pain treatment and the medications as well. He is very welcoming. We certainly hope that Mr. Kevin David be given due recognition by St. Luke's Medical Center Global City for the abovementioned qualities and accomplishments so far. We hope your medical institution could give him a chance to further hone and perfect his craft in the medical field. He deserves a permanent position and promotion in your company as he exemplifies the epitome of a true and dedicated medical ambassador. His presence in your medical institution will certainly be very beneficial to what your organization has been upholding and maintaining in terms of global corporate image and universal customer service.
