She made one of the hardest days of our lives a little easier, and for that, I will forever be grateful.
My Dad was under the care of Kiara one of the hardest days of all of our lives. My Dad was 64 years old and diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. After a very long and hard battle with cancer, my Dad chose to end his fight on the day Kiara cared for him. She was exceptional. She was attentive, kind, and compassionate. She made sure my Dad was comfortable and well cared for. Additionally, she was there for my entire family. She advocated for my Dad. She was an amazing bridge between us, the family, and all the different members of the healthcare team. She assisted us with getting Hospice care set up. She helped facilitate transitioning my Dad to a DNR. As a fellow nurse, I know how difficult this assignment could be, yet she handled it with such grace. My family was devastated; there were many tears, there were two ICU nurses watching every move and asking questions, and Kiara was amazing. She was sensitive to the entire situation. She never said the wrong thing. She was never annoyed with our many questions. My family loved her. But most importantly, my Dad loved her too! She is the kind of nurse everyone should strive to be. As a nurse myself, I would be glad to have her take care of me or any of my friends and family. She made one of the hardest days of our lives a little easier, and for that, I will forever be grateful. Kiara, keep being an amazing nurse, keep changing people's lives, and thank you for all that you do every day!
