Over the past two months of our lives, we received an absolutely remarkable patient experience from Ms. Kiley King in the NICU. Our son was born at the gestational age of 29 weeks and 4 days and weighed 1 pound, 14 ounces. He spent 38 days in the NICU and during that time, our family fell in love with Ms. King.
We requested Ms. King to be our son's primary nurse for many reasons. She is one of the most caring and compassionate individuals we have ever met. She is extremely passionate about her career and the well-being of the babies in the NICU. She takes time to educate when providing updates to the parents and family members and does so in a way that also consoles our anxieties and worries. She is well respected among her co-workers, she works well with a team, and she is often chosen to train others. Through her ability to multitask, she remains detail-oriented, professional, and empathetic. She truly cares about a relationship with the baby and the family, which puts worried minds at ease.
Beginning a journey in the NICU can be a very intimidating, scary process that often feels dark and full of unknowns. Having a nurse who is there for you to answer questions or ease your fears is a priceless feeling. Ms. King is the reason that my husband and I could leave the hospital each night knowing our son was in her hands. We will always keep in touch with Ms. King and we want our son to grow up knowing her, as she was such a major part of his NICU journey.
Since graduating from the NICU, we have kept in touch with her and she continues to answer any questions we have. She is a remarkable person and nurse who truly empathizes with families to provide the comfort new parents need during one of the hardest few months of our lives. We are forever blessed to have her in our lives.
