As a mom, I felt like I was living in a nightmare for a few days & the nightmare became real when I was following a group of nurses & medical staff who were wheeling my 4-month-old to the PICU! Kinda was the nurse we met when we got there. She was so kind & did an amazing job that when all the crazy was over, she was quick to update me on what was happening & why we were there. She told us what ‘could’ happen but reassured me that things would be okay. That was Kinda’s last night to work for a few days. When she came back & all that ‘could’ have happened did happen. We went from oxygen, to a high flow, to a CPAP & finally being intubated to help my son breathe & let his little body rest. Kinda was very understanding & very sweet to check in on me. While we were there, Kinda would be so good at keeping me updated & explaining to me what was going on & the plans forward. She was great at caring for my baby, making sure he was comfortable & talking to him.

One day that I will always be so thankful for & never forget was when Kinda asked me how long it had been since I held my baby. I told her about four days. She was quick & determined to make it happen. She called in staff to help her move my baby into my arms. She made it happen! I got to hold my baby for the first time in days. It’s what my momma heart needed! A moment I will never forget.

The one morning Kinda didn’t work, we were finally discharged from the PICU. I was bummed not to be able to say bye to a few nurses there & doctors that were all so great. In a new area in the hospital shut into a room again, I was feeling frustrated & sad we were still in the hospital. That day we had a visitor, it was Kinda! When she came in and started talking, my boy smiled so big! He knew her voice, and he knew how much she was there for him. It brought a tear to my eye that she made us feel so special to come to see us & check-in. That really was the cherry on top of how amazing Kinda was! Thank you, Kinda for all the support & putting up with a crazy mom who talked your ear off. We had so many outstanding nurses, but through them all, Kinda went above & beyond.

Nothing I can write about Kinda would do her justice, but I will try to express my gratitude to the best of my ability. We had many nurses over our daughter's 2 week stay here at Primary's, but none were so brilliant, attentive, kind, and confident as Kinda. She advocated for our daughter and for us as parents. She made sure we were aware of the resources available to us as a family. Kinda was also proactive and involved with the doctors, so she always knew what needed to happen medically with our daughter. She reassured us as parents when certain procedures, medical terms, or symptoms seemed especially scary. I was so worried about sending our daughter to her 3-hour MRI without a parent, but  Kinda went with her and made her comfortable and helped her feel safe and not alone. That reassured us as parents. Kinda's compassion and care during our daughter's most fragile time made our stay in the hospital just a little easier. We will forever be grateful for the wonderful, Extraordinary Nurse, Kinda.
