Kirk was attending a CIC patient that I was meeting with who had questions about changing his insurance payor to his VA benefits that he was just approved for. After I was done meeting with the patient, Kirk took the time to sit down with the patient and educate him on the VA programs and resources that were available to him. He also gave him the contact information for an individual at the Office of Veterans Advocacy as a resource for his benefits and questions. Kirk has always gone above and beyond for our patients, individualizing their care, and demonstrating ICARE values on a daily basis. ​This was just another day for Kirk, but this day, made a huge impact on our patient. Advocating for veterans has been an ongoing passion for Kirk as well as, making our CIC a personalized environment where our patients feel seen and cared for. I don't know any other RN who deserves this award more than, Kirk.
