I am honored to nominate Kiyah Copeland for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary care she provided to my dad during his recent hospitalization. My dad was admitted to Memorial Regional Medical Center after suffering from an almost diabetic coma. Understandably, this was a terrifying experience for both of us, but Kiyah's compassion and professionalism helped ease our fears and stabilize my dad's condition.

For four days, Kiyah was not only my dad's nurse but also a source of calm and reassurance for me. As his daughter, I was still dealing with anxiety about the situation, and I admit I was very direct with my questions and concerns. Kiyah responded with the utmost patience, kindness, and respect. She took the time to explain everything clearly, ensuring that both my dad and I understood his condition and the necessary steps for his recovery. Kiyah carefully reviewed his medication list with me and even contacted the doctor to clarify when I needed additional information. She coordinated with the case manager to assess my dad for the homecare services he needed, ensuring he would have the right support after discharge.

Additionally, she and the floor staff were incredibly responsive to the call button, which provided great comfort to us. Throughout my dad's stay, Kiyah demonstrated genuine concern for his well-being. She made it a priority to educate him about managing his insulin at home, and she patiently answered all our questions. Upon discharge, Kiyah took the time to confirm I was confident in my dad's homecare plan and that I didn't have any lingering questions. Kiyah’s warm smile and positive attitude were consistent throughout her care. It was evident that she loves her job and is deeply committed to her patients. Her compassion, expertise, and dedication made an incredibly stressful situation much more manageable for our family. Kiyah Copeland exemplifies the extraordinary care and compassion that the DAISY Award is meant to recognize. I will forever be grateful for the kindness and skill she showed my dad and our family during such a difficult time.
