When Kris walked into the emergency room, she sat down and looked straight at me, giving me her undivided attention. She asked me calmly and in the kindest voice what was going on. She never interrupted me but asked pertinent questions. She was listening and showed real empathy. I actually broke into tears because in part I had been dealing with the grief of losing my mother. Kindness is a formidable weapon in breaking down defenses and it helped me realize I still had more grieving to do with which she completely empathized. After that, I was able to think more clearly, and she was able to inform the doctor. She came in a couple more times to check on me as it was very busy, and the doctor was much delayed. Each time she made real contact either by voice or by touch and always with her eyes and her attention. She never acted hurried, yet I know they were busy. She has an easy manner while remaining professional and very attentive. I felt absolutely heard and it contributed enormously to my well-being. I am beginning to realize how much our feelings contribute to the state of our health. It turns out I need to see a specialist and I trust my health issue will be resolved. The tension with which I walked into the ER was completely dissolved by the time I walked out and in large part, I thank Kris Browne for it. - A grateful Patient
