She advocates for her patients and goes above and beyond to ensure they receive the best care and resources to sustain their health once they are home despite their diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Krista is a strong leader who leads from the front and models Children's core values daily. She advocates for her patients and goes above and beyond to ensure they receive the best care and resources to sustain their health once they are home despite their diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
One example of this was one of our 17-year-old patients who recently had a stroke and was discharged from the hospital on anti-seizure medications and anticoagulants. Unfortunate circumstances led to the family not being able to afford their medications, and they explained to Krista that they were rationing out the pills to make them last longer. Mom was seeking help and was unsure where to start. Krista immediately began to search for answers and find resources that could be available to Mom. One call led to the next, and together with a Nurse Case Manager, they began to find solutions to ensure these medications could be provided and fully funded between the two hospital organizations.
Another example of Krista's extraordinary commitment to our patients and families was her advocacy to Reach out and Read organization to provide books in other languages outside of English and Spanish. Krista wanted to ensure that all of our patients receive the best care, inclusive of their native language. She identified all the languages we cared for here and provided that list to the representative. With success, we will be given books in the languages we serve. There are so many examples of the lives that Krista touches and changes for the better. These were just two that have stood out recently.
