My husband and I went in to be induced on a Saturday. The first nurse we had (7-3:30) was great. At 3 our new nurse came in, Kristel. She was very upbeat and positive when we first met her. Around that time is when my labor started to really progress, and the pain got increasingly worse. Kristel stayed in our room pretty much the whole time and assisted with anything and everything. She knew I was uncomfortable and gave multiple ideas and made suggestions to help with the pain. She also had a lot of words of encouragement that kept me feeling positive. When it came time for an epidural, the team was in my room within minutes!
Over the next couple of hours, she kept me as comfortable as she could, by using aids such as the peanut ball. It was so nice not having to ask for aids to comfort me, she knew exactly how to help me and would do so without me asking or complaining! Later in her shift, I started to have BP issues along with the baby's heart rate dropping. She stayed so calm the entire time. The midwife and a few other people had come into the room to assist her. While it was a very scary situation, she never made me doubt that things would be ok.
Kristel was an excellent nurse during my laboring. I could not have asked for a better experience for the birth of my second child. Kristel went above and beyond to keep me comfortable and at ease during the toughest part of my labor and delivery. She was professional, compassionate and beyond competent as an L&D nurse. I was disappointed to not have Kristel during my delivery but I am beyond thankful for the time I had has as my nurse.
I also work in the health field and would say I had high expectations. Kristel exceeded all of them in the care she provided. You can tell she is a nurse who truly loves her career and her patients. Many thanks to Kristel and the rest of the team that provided me care.
