Kristen was charge and a patient started decompensating. The patient was already a partial code status (no CPR, no intubation-yes to pressors/dilators). A RRT was called and interventions provided. A few hours later, another RRT was called on the same patient. The family changed the code status and the patient was switched to comfort care. The patient had around 30 family members in the room, 2 has passed out/started getting faint during this whole ordeal. Patient ended up passing around the end of shift.
The family was very grateful and complimented Kristen on the care and comfort she brought them and the patient on this unexpected day. She essentially took the patient over from the original nurse because the nurse was too busy. She went above and beyond to help bring peace/comfort to the patient and family. She had to stay late to finish up her paperwork.
She was a great nurse to her coworkers, the patient and family and a great leader on a long and stressful day.

Kristen was very kind, gentle, and an excellent nurse.
