There is no question that Kristie Corbett is both an extraordinary nurse and human being. She truly exemplifies care and compassion for not only the individuals she serves but the staff with whom she works. As a member of the Forensic I Treatment Team alongside Mrs. Corbett, I am impressed every day with her clinical knowledge and her determination to help the individuals on the unit, even if doing so is not technically a part of her job description. She is constantly offering to take individuals on outings or medical appointments, even if doing so means she will need to come in early or stay late. She is also always happy to help in transitioning individuals out of the hospital in whatever way she can. All that said, it is clear that Mrs. Corbett has a teamwork attitude, and that attitude is often infectious. Mrs. Corbett is a true advocate for the individuals on the unit and is never afraid to stand up for what an individual wants and/or what is right. She works tirelessly to make sure that our long-term individuals are not forgotten or looked over when it comes to the care they need and/or possible new interventions that might be beneficial to them. She is one of the few nurses I constantly see interacting with patients in the milieu, always striving to make their hospitalization as tolerable/comfortable as possible. If anyone (individual or staff asks) Mrs. Corbett to do something, she does it with a smile and often without question. She can always be counted on to do above and beyond what is asked of her, no matter how big or small the task; people can rest assured that if Mrs. Corbett is in charge, the task will get done. Mrs. Corbett's compassion for the individuals at the hospital comes through in the way she talks and in the way that she makes it a point to really understand each individual's life story and circumstances. On top of all the things she does for the individuals, she has a wonderful sense of humor, and her caring nature comes through in every interaction.
