Kristin has always cared for me and my young daughters.
The DAISY Award for Nurses Advancing Health Equity was created to honor nurses whose work to advance health equity and mitigate health disparities that are caused by social determinants of health. This year’s award recognizes an individual, who goes above and beyond in caring for patients and families who are disadvantaged demographically, psycho-socially, or economically. This year’s recipient is known for her contributions within all of Wheeler, anyone that interacts with her knows that she will give her everything to her team, her peers, and her patients.
Through her efforts and relentless commitment to doing things right, Kristin has built sustainable clinical practices that have led to her team leading clinical UDS outcomes, removing barriers to care with open access models of care, increasing visibility for nursing, and continuing to adapt to the ever-changing healthcare system.
This nurse showcases her commitment to her profession with her kind, caring, and generous spirit. She is a wonderful mother and daughter and as a colleague I value her perseverance to improve, build teamwork, collaboration, and community.
Please join me in celebrating Kristin Gardner, this year’s recipient of the DAISY Award for Nurses Advancing Health Equity: “Kristin has always cared for me and my young daughters. She's never not said hi to us when we see each other and has never rushed me or not cared. She is literally one of the sweetest, most caring nurses I've met in all my years at Wheeler. Its assuring to know I can always call her if I have any issue. I appreciate her more than she knows."
