Krystal, with a K, is my main care nurse from St. Vincent Home Care. Krystal has been seeing me for 2 years, as I have now two pressure sores - dressings changed daily. When I first met Krystal, I just knew how special she was. I've had every Home Care nurse over this time,Krystal is just kind, caring, so sweet, and takes great pride in the occupation she has chosen.
We have a great relationship that I respect, as does she. Krystal always calls in the morning to let me know when she will be coming. After one visit we had a cath change. I was worried that I was wetting and nothing going into my leg bag. She told me to transfer on the bed after she left and I saw that the ball from the catheter was out, so I called Krystal immediately and she came right back and she put a new catheter in and we added 13cc of water and that kept the ball from slipping out and the problem was solved.
I don't like asking for help, but I learned that that's a nurse's job. When I needed help, it was so refreshing to have a Krystal with a K come in with a smile and kindness in whatever she has to do. Today she called me in the morning and said was coming in around noon. Unfortunately, my husband had to go on a trip, and he needed me to go with him. We needed to leave in the morning so I called Krystal and told her I couldn't get my wound changed in the morning because we were leaving very early. She called me back and said she was 15 minutes from me. She came right away and changed the wound because she cared so much, so I could go.
I've dealt with a lot of nurses over my years. Krystal comforts me when I feel depressed and helps me work through things that bother me. She's a single mom and is so dedicated to what she does being in-home care and loves what she does. Krystal is smart, so intelligent, and such a kind caring person! I write this with all my heart. She's like a daughter to me. God's blessings to her.
