She was phenomenal, and we felt her sincerity and compassion towards mom and the family at the bedside.
My mother was admitted to remove part of her pancreas due to suspicions of pancreatic cancer. Her surgery became more complex, and it became an open procedure from a laparoscopic, and they had to take her spleen. Mom experienced some unexpected post-operative issues, which left her scared. Lacey was mom's nurse on the first postoperative day. Lacey was a student of my mom's in high school when she completed a CNA course that my mom teaches. Mom was relieved to see her and immediately felt comfortable with her presence and knowledge. Lacey was so attentive and never gave mom or the family the feeling of stress or being rushed, even though we know she had other patients to care for. Mom had an extremely busy day, requiring Lacey to advocate for mom multiple times with the NP and charge nurse. She was phenomenal, and we felt her sincerity and compassion towards mom and the family at the bedside. She embodies the DAISY Award criteria and would be extremely deserving of this award. Thank you. And especially thank you, Lacey!
