Lacey has become one of our senior nurses in the PICU and is a great resource to our younger and newer staff.
Lacey Held is an exceptional nurse in the PICU. She has grown so much in the past year. Lacey is seen to always go above and beyond her duties as a nurse. She is well-loved by the families and especially the patients she takes care of. She at all times advocates for her patients and their families and ensures that she provides exceptional care to her patients. Lacey is also one of our trauma code nurses. Trauma code nurse comes with big responsibilities.
As a TC nurse, you are in charge of rounding to our newer nurses and ensuring that their questions and concerns are addressed regarding their assignments. TC nurse acts as a resource not only to our PICU staff but also for nurses on the medical floor who are taking care of watcher status patients. Trauma code nurses check in with the nurses on the medical floor who are caring for watcher status patients. Trauma code nurses also act as a resource for any tier trauma to come through our emergency department. Lacey is always willing to lend a hand with no hesitation.
Lacey has become one of our senior nurses in the PICU and is a great resource to our younger and newer staff. She started as a relief charge nurse in our step-down ICU and has grown to become a relief charge nurse in our main PICU on the 6th floor. She exemplifies leadership skills when she is in charge and has great working skills with our medical team. She also acted as one of our source of truth “SOT” nurses during the start of our covid pandemic. She acted as a resource for the whole hospital for any covid related questions they may have. She rounds to every unit in the hospital and answers any questions and worries they may have. She helped them set up rooms for admission to have our rooms covid safe for our patients and staff.
Lacey is also very active in the unit. She started as a co-chair of our clinical practice council for 2 years and is now the current chair of our PICU CPC. She uses her clinical expert skills and listens to our PICU staff to identify specific needs and helps identify reasonable solutions to help resolve issues or problems. These are just some of Lacey’s exceptional work at CHOC. We are very fortunate to have Lacey in the PICU and are always grateful to work side by side with her.
