Lana took the time to comfort my mother, position her frequently and provide medications.
My mother was hospitalized in your facility after becoming very ill with liver cancer. During her stay, it was decided that she would be placed into Hospice Care. I was called to return to Oregon, as she was failing quickly. I arrived from Kentucky to be at her side. That evening Lana was assigned as my mother's nurse. Lana was very kind and showed true compassion for my mother. Not only did she provide my mother care, but she took the time to make sure I was comfortable and brought me fresh ice frequently. I was exhausted but was unable to rest for concern for my mother.
As a nurse myself, I know that we often get very task oriented and sometimes forget or do not have the time to show the compassion that most of us feel. That night, Lana took the time to comfort my mother, position her frequently and provide medications as requested. She also padded the pull out bed that I was attempting to sleep on. My mother passed peacefully at home a couple of days later. Everyone at your facility that I encountered was very attentive and kind. Kudos to you all. I would be honored to work with staff such as yours. Thank you all for your kindness.
Note: This is Lana's 3rd DAISY Award!
