My son had an extended stay in Neonatal ICU. In fact, as I write this we are still here, 2 days out from leaving after 70 days. Larissa Gallaway has been a primary caregiver for my son, since he was about a week old. She has gone above and beyond so many times, I have lost count. She now seems more like family than just our son's nurse.
The compassion she shows when taking care of him is extraordinary. Not only does she take such great care of our son, she makes sure we are okay also. She takes the extra time to talk to us, answer any and all questions, and if we are apprehensive about anything upcoming, Larissa helps to put our minds at ease.
Being so close to leaving, it is almost bittersweet. We are excited to finally get our baby home and settled but also saddened to leave our second family. I found out today that Larissa traded days to have our son a few more times before we leave. She knows we are so happy to see her being the one who will be there for him. She just brings a sense of calm with her that goes a long, long way for a Mom and Dad of a NICU baby.
Thank you for everything you do, Larissa. We would not have fared so well (mentally and emotionally) without your help.
