When a patient came in to the ICU with PH of 6.7 and walked out of the unit in days even after having multiple organ failures, AKF, ARDS, I said "That's worth every single moment of our work". Laura was the nurse that took care of that patient for the first 4 nights of his admission. The efficiency and doing all the labs on time, knowing everything about that patient, knowing how to deal with the CVVHD machine, preparing all that is needed for procedures, and updating me about any change in our patient's situation or labs, suggesting and participating in plan of care, all these were essential factors that resulted in our patient walking out of the unit.
