Nurse Laura had just began her shift as my daughter was being processed for discharge. She had been in the hospital for what we believe was her first seizure. After Nurse Laura had taken her IV out and checked her out we began to walk out to the parking garage to leave and Nurse Laura was walking with us. Right after we said goodbye and went to walk out the door, we noticed my daughter wasn't breathing. The nurse ran to us, grabbed her and checked her pulse, and began rescue breathing, while running to find help for her.
My family is greatly indebted to Laura Beth George. Her quick response, quick thinking, and courage very likely saved my little girl's life. She went several minutes without breathing. My family has been thanking God in our prayers for sending this Guardian Angel to my daughter.

I have had the pleasure of working with Beth for 16 years now. Beth is a vast resource of knowledge and experience, but the thing that sets her apart is her love and care for her patients. This is most evident in a situation Beth was in a few weeks ago. Beth had discharged a baby that had been in her care. As Beth was walking back down the hall to go back to the floor, she turned around in time to see the dad running towards her with the infant lying blue and limp in his arms. Beth ran towards him and he thrust the baby into her arms. She did a quick assessment and determined the baby had a pulse but was not breathing. Instead of waiting for the code team to come to her, therefore delaying help for the baby, she immediately began mouth-to-mouth as she headed towards the PICU. When she got to the desk outside the PICU, she continued mouth-to-mouth and sent someone inside for help. The PICU team quickly arrived and took over the code. I am sure the child's quick recovery was due in large part to Beth's quick intervention. Beth's priority is always the health and well being of her patients, and she is an incredible asset to our patients, our floor, and this institution.

Note from PICU Shift Supervisor Wesley Smith: I was working in PICU on this day. Both the Nurse Manager and I went to 2C to personally thank Beth. This was a great nursing service. I actually checked Beth off in PALS the week prior.
