... As an RN at OSF myself, I was completely blown away by Laura's professionalism, compassion, advocacy, and excellent care. Laura not only read our birth plan, but knew it and followed it as much as possible. When things needed to change, she provided education, options, and allowed me to maintain my dignity with her compassion. She listened to us. She took charge when she needed to keep me safe and helped me breath through terrible back labor. She was reassuring when my once and we found out she had meconium staining. She respected my special needs as a breast cancer survivor and as a survivor of traumatic experiences. She helped me into many different laboring, and a few different delivery, positions to see what would work best. She made sure my daughter was on my chest as soon as possible and delayed non-urgent cares until we had a chance to bond which was so important to us. My birth experience was wonderful.
