She left detailed directions on bandage changing for the night shift nurses and I was pleased when I visited in the morning and saw they did follow through.
My husband was admitted to St. Vincent’s ICU and was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson syndrome with severe rash & blisters that burst and left raw, open wounds all over his body. Laura teleconferenced with a dermatologist to determine treatment and included me in all meetings. She then directed ICU nurses on wound care and came daily to change bandages and document improvement. I know this is part of her job, but the manner in which she provided care and direction was exceptional and done with kindness, and she provided information to me every day and gentleness to my husband. Her upbeat personality calmed me and gave me hope that my husband was improving. She left detailed directions on bandage changing for the night shift nurses and I was pleased when I visited in the morning and saw they did follow through. She is a wonderful caregiver. On the day I wasn’t there when she did my husband’s bandage changes, she asked another nurse where I was and if I was okay.
