During my husband's last day in ICU, we were privileged to have Laura Huber as his day nurse. Laura was the most comprehensive and prepared nurse that we worked with. She completely reviewed his records and was able to speak intelligently about all aspects of his situation. Laura's knowledge gave us more insights into what was occurring overall, explaining all of it better than even the doctors.
In addition, Laura's style is just simply so reassuring. She is calm, clear, concise and really patient. However, Laura is also firm and was able to help my husband help himself. When he was released to go to step down, Laura knew how important a milestone this was for my husband: when an aide was not available, she took us there herself. Before we went and once we arrived, she went out of her way to make sure our new nurse had the information needed and thoroughly understood it. This obviously took extra effort on Laura's part which we subsequently really appreciated. Laura is absolutely top-notch and should be used as a role model for ICU nurses.
